J.T. Temchack in front of lake and fall folliage

hill-bil-li-bret-tist-bard

/ˈhilˌbilˈləˈbredəst-bärd/

noun

an unsophisticated country person—poet-singer, or instrumentalist—associated with the remote regions of the Appalachians, who writes and recites the text of an opera, poem, or ballad, often set to music.

J.T. Temchack—the hillbillibrettist-bard of Central Pennsylkrainia—is the creator of Rumble & Scream: Post-Industrial Sounds in Pennsylkrainia, A Folk-Rock Opera.

To be a hillbillibrettist-bard, one must believe in the power of story, in the sacredness held in certain syllables (their melodies and rhythms), and in the beauty of making the best of what one’s given.

Temchack wears many hats, some of the most pertinent include: artist, musician, composer, audio engineer, producer, poet, environmentalist, folklorist.

He resides with his co-writer/producer, Bethany Temchack, and their dogs in the Allegheny Mountains.

"He paints a picture of small-town, mine-country living—with its stories, legends, & folks you might run into on a walk."
